Alloy 1.4539: High performance austenitic stainless steel alloy

Alloy 1.4539 is a high performance austenitic stainless steel alloy used in various applications due to its high strength and corrosion resistance. It is also known as UNS N08904.


Chemical composition:

Chromium: 19.0-21.0%

Nickel: 24.0-26.0%

Molybdenum: 4.5-5.0%

Copper: 1.5-2.0%

Nitrogen: 0.15-0.25%

Carbon: 0.02% (max)

Manganese: 2.0% (max)

Phosphorus: 0.045% (max)

Sulfur: 0.03% (max)

Silicon: 1.0% (max)


Characteristics:

Outstanding corrosion resistance: The 1.4539 alloy offers excellent resistance to corrosive media such as sulfuric acid, nitric acid and phosphoric acid. It is also resistant to pitting corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.

High Strength: This alloy features high strength that makes it suitable for use in demanding applications such as offshore platforms and marine engineering.

Good Weldability: 1.4539 alloy welds well and can be treated after welding without affecting corrosion resistance and strength.

Good machinability: This alloy has good machinability and its good mechanical properties make it easy to shape and drill.
