General information:

Alloy: 1.4713 (also known as X10CrAlSi7)

Classification: Ferritic stainless steel

Areas of application: high temperature applications, heat exchangers, furnace components, exhaust systems

Chemical composition:

Carbon (C): 0.12% max.

Silicon (Si): 0.30 - 0.70%

Manganese (Mn): 1.00% max.

Phosphorus (P): 0.04% max.

Sulfur (S): 0.03% max.

Chromium (Cr): 6.50 - 8.00%

Aluminum (Al): 0.30 - 0.70%


Physical Properties:

Density: 7.70 g/cm³

Melting range: 1430 - 1480 °C

Thermal conductivity: 25 - 30 W/(m K)

Electrical Conductivity: 5-10% IACS


Mechanical properties:

Tensile strength: 450 - 650 M

PaYield strength: 250 - 450 MPa

Elongation at break: 30 - 40%

Hardness: 150 - 200 HB (Brinell)


Heat treatment:

Annealing: Between 800°C and 900°C for 1-2 hours, followed by slow cooling in furnace air or with sand or ash.


Corrosion resistance:

Alloy 1.4713 offers good resistance to atmospheric corrosion and oxidation at high temperatures. However, it is less resistant to strong acids and chloride ions.

Weldability:

The weldability of the alloy 1.4713 is good. However, adequate protective measures against intergranular corrosion should be taken before welding.
